New Infinity 1 - Stuck to be on 40/10 product rather than 55/10 ?

Go to solution

My BT Infinity 1 was activated a few weeks ago. For some reason my download sync rate will not go over 40000Kbps when my attainable download sync is showing as 45836Kbps making me think that I'm not actually on the new 55/10 that BT Infinity should go up to. When I had a instant chat with BT support they did not seem to keen to do anything as apparently I was well above the acceptable speed for the line (31Mb).

I've tried using the new BT Smart hub and the old Huawei HG612 both reporting similar statistics

BT Smart Hub

Download Speed - 39.30

Upload Speed - 7.00

Advanced Log - (attainable sync) - Down Rate - 47214Kbps, Up Rate=7768Kbps SNR Margin Down =6.00dB, SNR Margin Up = 6.20dB

Huawei HG612

Downstream rate = 39709Kbps

Upstream rate = 8027Kbps

Max Downstream rate = 45704Kbps

Max Upstream rate = 8027Kbps

SNR (dB) Down - 6.1

SNR (dB) Up - 6.0

These stats suggest I should be getting a downstream rate way above 40000Kbps

Can anyone suggest the best way to get this checked out ? I realise its only the difference of a few meg but I would like the get the most I can out of the line.

Re: New Infinity 1 - Stuck to be on 40/20 profile rather than 55/10 ?

Can you run this checker and post back a screen shot of the results. Make sure you delete your phone number before posting.

Can you use this speed tester then carry out the further diagnostics and post back a screen shot of all the results including your IP profile for up and down. This test must be done with a wired connection.

This is using the Huawei HG612. I can plug the Smarthub back in if needed.

There was a 40/20 product from BT Openreach, this is what I was referring to. Maybe I'm on the 40/10 product rather than 55/10 ?

There is nothing wrong with your connection you have the maximum your line will support due to your distance from your cabinet

I suspect you're on 55/10 and it's simply that your line can't get much more than 40meg sync.

If you were on the 40/10 and that was limiting your sync you'd be syncing at 39999, you're connecting at 39709 so the 40meg cap isn't relevant.

OK, thanks for the replies. Any suggestions as to why the max attainable DL rate differs so much from the actual rate I'm getting?
