New Infinity - new problems

Hello there,

Just had Infinity installed by a surly engineer.

Now BT Yahoo Internet Explorer (7) won't operate - has anyone else had this problem?

Please help...I type sobbing

Re: New Infinity - new problems

Thanks for the tip

forgive me for being an ignorant bloke - how does one go about finding another web browser -any recommendations?

I cannot access any web page - Am thinking it's a problem with the Yahoo server (I am told!)

Re: New Infinity - new problems

Firefox

Google Chrome

Opera

Safari

Am sure there are others but these are the main alternatives to IE

Re: New Infinity - new problems

You could start with this one Firefox

If the installation technician installed any software on your computer, then perhaps that is what is stopping IE fro working?

No software is actually needed.

Re: New Infinity - new problems

The usual way to get a new web browser is to download it using an old one.

You may have a standard version of Internet Explorer already installed on the machine,

though your BT Yahoo Internet Explorer (7) may have overwritten it.

If you can't get any browser working, it is difficult to download and install another one.

Are you sure it is the whole browser not working?

There are various things that could go wrong.

 - Whole browser not working at all.

 - Browser working but some BT or Yahoo sites not working.

 - Your new Infinity install not working, so no remote sites will work.

 - Your PC not connected correctly to the HomeHub.

If you start the browser, does any sort of window show up?

If not, then the browser really is broken, post again and we'll try to help.

If the browser starts and you type 'www.google.com' into the address bar at the top and hit enter,

does that give a google search page?

If so, most things should be ok.  Try a few out.

If not, try typing '192.168.1.254' and into the address page and hit the enter key.

That should give information about the HomeHub.

If that's working but the google wasn't, post again and we'll suggest a next step.

Good luck

Re: New Infinity - new problems

Or you could try Internet Explorer 9, which runs fine for me.

Re: New Infinity - new problems

Thanks for all your support,

Still no luck unfortunately.

I can access a web page (such as Microsoft for internet explorer 9) and then it freezes again.

No web page gets beyond the opening page.

But e-mails run fine....

is it possible to un-load the current internet explorer 7 and re-load it?

Re: New Infinity - new problems

This sounds more like a computer problem, than anything wrong with your Infinity connection.

Did you, or the installation technician install any software from the BT CD?
