After you have managed to work it all out and have used it for a while please post back and let us know if you prefer it or if you miss your webmail with all its adverts and other problems.
It may be called "get mail".
Thunderbird checks for new messages every time you open the application. It will also automatically check again every 10 minutes.
To check for messages at any other time, click the Get MessagesGet Mail button in the toolbar.
On my version, the latest, 31.6.0, it's called "Get Messages"
Initial response to my feelings of Thunderbird, Yes it's better than BT Yahoo, not only no adverts, but the new BTYahoo package is a mess.
With the new BT Yahoo interface I can't find mails I've sent because they are locked to other mails.
Also some of my Contacts send me a mail but add it to a mail of another subject hence I get a mess that I'm finding hard to control.
Thunderbird is clean & simple.
Hope that helps some none users
This manual might be a useful read.
Thanks this could help

Replies to mails are blocked together as are additional mails that are sent in reply.
I'm now totally confused with this method.
Are others having the same problem?
And yes, I am getting used to Thunderbird
Yes - I am having the same difficulty with regards to how the emails are lumped together.
Yes - I'm getting used to Thunderbird. I'm starting to use it more and more to overcome the problems with the layout of the new Bt Yahoo.
If you are having problems with the new default email settings that list "conversations" you can turn it off by going into settings and deselect "enable converations"
Thanks for the advice, just tried it and it works fine.
