If the problem occurs on multiple devices and both routers the only conclusion I can draw is that it is the environment.
A bit drastic, but can you try the Archer at another location with your laptop and ideally another laptop.
Don't forget to disable the inbuilt wifi adaptor
Spoke too soon - too old to even find drivers for it... pre windows 7!
Use Vista or XP drivers. Windows 7 is Vista with XP under the hood with a bit of tweaking added.
I'm on Windows 10. It doesnt work
