New home broadband hub - What is the red WAN Port for?

Can anybody tell me what the red WAN RJ45 port of the new hub is for or where I can download a comprehensive guide to the hub?

The setup guide seems to be purely for wireless users, rather than for ethernet friendly households!

Thanks very much guys. As I live in a small village that makes the Land that Time Forgot look advanced, Infinity is not likely to arrive this side of 2050, so the red WAN port is mere decoration on my Home Hub.

So, if you have a Home Hub 5 there is no connection required in the red ethernet port?

Can it be used for anything?

if you are not using a modem then wan port is empty and not for anything else
