New to Infinity, but want to keep Openreach Modem and Draytek 2830n

Go to solution

Hi All,

Been with plusnet for ages and have their 76mb Fibre working perfectly with Openreach Modem and A Draytek Vigor 2830n router.

Just signed up to Infinity 1 because the deal was too good to miss to get Bt Sport Europe, but I don't want to use the HH5 that is winging its way to me.  And yes I know Infinity 1 is only 38mb, but it was a tenner.

Am I right in the thinking the current setup will still be working after my switch over.   I only need to swap my PPoE username to be "bthomehub@btbroadband.com" with a blank password?

I also have the router settings to make the multicast work too.

Thanks

You may need to enter a password, if you do just use anything you like.

Thanks for the replies, that is good to know.

I know if things don't work can always plug the HH5 in.

Just to say, swapped over this morning, happy to report all working fine with the Draytek, including all the TV.   Had a bit of fiddling with some odd settings to do with Multi-PVC but as soon as I disabled it everything sprung into life.  So HH5 can happily sit in it's wrapping.

Decent speed too 37.4mb for infinity 1, but I am across the road from the green box Smiley Very Happy

Happy Days, all ready for the Champions League now.

By far the best option.

ISP routers are all cheap carp.

I know, work provided the Draytek and it's a superb bit of kit. Plus we subscribe to OpenDNS to stop the kids getting to places they shouldn't and I always wondered if BT would prevent you changing your DNS with the HH? I know Sky used to back in the day, had to "hack" their firmware to change the DNS.

Anyway, Happy Happy Days
