Newsgroups Server Error Message 480

I have recently moved over to Sky broadband, but retained my mailbox with BT premium mail. But I seem to have lost my access to newsgroups with the error message below.

Are they only available to BT broadband customers, if yes what alterntives are suggested?

Re: Newsgroups Server Error Message 480

As you are no longer with BT Broadband, you will not be able to use my personal help website, as its restricted to BT Broadband or BT Wifi users.

I would advice that you ask on the Sky forums, as they are now your ISP.

This forum is for BT customers only.

Re: Newsgroups Server Error Message 480

I don't believe SKY supply a News server.

2 choices , use a publicly accesible news server , realy only good for text files etc, or 2: Pay for a News service from some on like Newshosting, Giganews etc. There are many to choose from.

I pay €10 per year to https://news.individual.net/ and get a faultless service.

Re: Newsgroups Server Error Message 480

Keith

Hello

I am experiencing the same problem as george66. I attempted to make a connection with "news.btinternet.com" at 18:02 today 23/04/2015 but it resulted in the error message 480. I am, and have for several years, been using the Xnews reader without any problems.

Any advice will be great apprciated.
