Nighthawk router set up

Hi I have the above router and would love to use it. I tried setting it up and seemed so close to getting it to work. Either done something wrong or not done something.
my internet comes in the home as a phone type wire then to a splitter. One to phone one to home hub.
I want it to go from splitter to Huawei hg612 modem to nighthawk router. Is modem not good enough? Or would I be better with a Netgear dm200 for comparability or ease of use or performance/ easier set up.   I have no idea.
I got as far as being able to access the router software duma os. But this taken me probably 2 hours. Yup a real newbie with it asking for info I had no idea about isp usernames and stuff which I looked into.  In the end I could connect to the WiFi network. But there was no internet. Connect a PS4 by lan. No internet. So frustrating with having no knowledge at all on this.
would love some help or step by step guide to get it to work. It would be much appreciated.

Re: Nighthawk router set up

Yes I’m a residential customer. I’m currently on the the home hub and don’t need a modem. I got the modem as the Netgear router is a router only, not a modem/router.

Re: Nighthawk router set up

when you connect router you need to set username to bthomehub@btbroadband.com and if password needed then just use BT

Re: Nighthawk router set up

Hi

i have tried this and it connects. But seems to loose connection or can’t communicate with the modem correctly. It’s as though something needs setting up or configuring. Even when it’s connected it gives the Netgear WiFi visible but when you log into it there is no actual WiFi or internet on the Lan.
