Re: No Broadband connection

Hi imjolly,

I had the promised call and within the 2 hour window.

However, he offered no explanation as to waht the fault was and exactly when it was fixed.

He is going to ring back again tomorrow.  Not sure quite why, other than I said I wanted to know how he proposes to pay my travelling expenses for returning to the property last Friday on the promise that the fault was fixed when it wasn't.

Best regards,

Re: No Broadband connection

looks like back to before with noise margin dropping that low that it may trigger a reset  interleaving is working hard going by number of FEC errors

Re: No Broadband connection

Good morning imjolly,

I received the call back from BT at about 16:10 yesterday.  I emailed him earlier in the day with my questions in the hope that he would check things out before ringing; no such luck. So I ended up on the phone for half an hour and got absolutely nowhere.  When I tried to come on here I found my session had ended which meant a disconnection.  When I check this morning it happenned at about 16:10.  Coincidence or did the BT chap cause it ?

Net result, my speed is down, viz :-

ADSL Line Status
Connection Information
Line state:Connectedppp0_0

Re: No Broadband connection

on plus side you have 14hrs connection time with good noise margin and nowhere near as many errors as before

Re: No Broadband connection

Good morning imjolly,

The BT advisor refused to tell me whether he triggered the reset.  He also refused to pay the travelling expenses as I could not give him the name of the advisor that promised to pay them.  Unfortunately even if they give a name it is never understandable as is oftern the case in view of the accent difference, in both directions.

I suppose in the final alalysis a decent broadband connection is more important.   Things not looking too bad, although the FEC events are still higher than "normal", viz :-

ADSL Line Status
Connection Information
Line state:Connectedppp0_0
Connection time:1 days, 17:23:15
Downstream:2.523 Mbps
Upstream:784 Kbps

ADSL Settings
VPI/VCI:0/38
Type:PPPoA
Modulation:G.992.3 Annex A
Latency type:Interleaved
Noise margin (Down/Up):6.2 dB / 6.5 dB
Line attenuation (Down/Up):57.9 dB / 33.7 dB
Output power (Down/Up):17.2 dBm / 12.6 dBm
FEC Events (Down/Up):35380 / 8333
CRC Events (Down/Up):69 / 67
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote):0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote):0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote):0 / 0
HEC Events (Down/Up):489 / 90
Error Seconds (Local/Remote):110 / 64

Changing subject, SFBB has made a step forward as people have seen fibre being laid in places between the village and the exchange, plus our PCP was replaced yesterday as planned

Any idea what the label on it might mean please ?140516 B.JPG

Re: No Broadband connection

the label is just a manufacturer's reference sticker and of no consequence

Re: No Broadband connection

Hi imjolly & john46,

Many thanks for the replies.  It is PCP2, PCP7 is in another village, so that's what made me query it.

Re: No Broadband connection

Hi imjolly & john46,

Two updates from emails received on Friday, one from Openreach & and the other from BT.

Openreach replied as follows with respect to our new cabinet "The shiny cabinet is a new shell for the old cabinet 2 so that extra cables can be installed from it to the new fibre cabinet.

The label gives the serial number for the cabinet."

The one from BT was from the manager the advisor that was dealing with the disconnection issue saying he would look into the issue and call me back.  No surprise that I never got the call.  However I had a disconnection soon after the email was sent.  Since then the errors have been low although the speed is down a little.

Provided things do not deteriorate again in the next week or so I will mark this thread as solved.
