No broadband message on TV

I regularly keep getting a ' you are not connected to the broadband' type message when on Iplayer or similar. I have a WiFi extender but have this problem. Any suggestions please?

Re: No broadband message on TV

Welcome to this user forum.

I assume this is a smart TV you are talkling about, and not BT YouView?

Its best to connect a smart TV using a direct Ethernet cable where possible, or using broadband extenders like these.

A wireless connection will always be subject to interference, which will result in a loss of connection.

Re: No broadband message on TV

Are you just getting the message  "you are not connected to the broadband'  or are you actually being disconnected from the broadband signal?

Re: No broadband message on TV

Hi Keith.

I have the extenders as you indicate and was wondering if this was the problem.

Hi

Am using a smart TV through the BT box connected through HDMI. But I wondered if it was the extenders

If you are using those extenders to connect to the YouView box, then they are not the recommended ones for BT Youview.

See this post by a moderator, for the correct ones to use instead

They have two Ethernet ports, so you can connect one to the YouView box, and one to the Smart TV, if that requires an Internet connection.

Re: No broadband message on TV

The extenders I am using are an older version of these. Connected as follows: phone socket to extender via ethernet cable. Extender plugged into house mains circuit. Second extender plugged into ciruit and cable to box, then connected to smart TV.

Re: No broadband message on TV

I assume you mean the extender is connected to the home hub, not the phone socket.

If the other extender connects to the smart TV, then how is the BT YouView box connected, assuming you are using a BT YouView box like this?

YouView

Re: No broadband message on TV

Yes sorry, from Home hub to mains socket.  The BT YouView box is connected to the TV into the HDMI1 socket.
