Hi I’ve just recently moved flat, it seems that I do not have a master socket to plug the hub into? Do I need one? Thanks

When you say, New House, or Flat do you mean it’s a Brand New Build or just new to you but was built in 1975 and has had multiple owners since?
If it’s brand, brand new it’s possible it has FTTP and not a Metallic Path.
Is there an ONT anywhere, most likely a Cupboard? It’s a White Box with Green Lights on it. Power, PON and LAN. Possibly a TELE1 Port as well.
Sorry I mean new to me, I’ve found that it has a virgin media box but I am obviously with BT and my plug does not fit the plug with virgin media, can I change it so I can continue with BT?
You would need a BT master socket fitted, as you cannot use the Virgin Media connection.
VM use a Coax Cable Network for their TV/Broadband Service and a TPON for their Voice Service.
You would need a Line Installing by Openreach.
Have you got an active Service or have you not placed an order yet?
I’m already with BT from my previous address but never got around to phoning to tell them my new address, i was just curious as don’t know how I will be able to use bt If there’s only a virgin box
thanks
If you had done a home move with BT for existing contract then you would have got a line installed by openreach and new master socket and your existing package continued. Need to phone 150 and see what you can organise now
If you are a BT customer, and you have already moved address but haven’t advised BT of this new address, then presumably you are still paying for a service at the old address, an address you no longer live at , and should someone move into your old address any ‘activity’ on the line (that will be working ) will be added onto your bill, so you should sort this out ASAP.
If in the process , you say you want to continue as a BT customer at the new address , then they will arrange a ‘new’ line to be installed if records show that the new address doesn’t currently have a ‘BT’ type line...in some situations there may be an install charge for this new line.
