I have recently joined BT for my broadband (16Meg Unlimited).
I had a problem with the router dropping out and rebooting, I thought that this was just the system settling down etc, however after about 10 days I noticed that things had gone slow so started doing some investigation and found that everytime the phone was rang/used that is when the Internet dropped out. I traced the fault to the filter and since having replaced the filter everything has been stable and speed has increased, all good then you say!
I have kept a log of the updates/reboots, I have not touched/rebooted the router since the filter has been replaced per everything I have read on here. Please below for the log

This when I found the issue with the filter. Note the increase in upstream.

This was a reboot by the router

04:17:37, 13 Feb. (647186.890000) DSL line rate: 1207 Kbps upstream, 13541 Kbps downstream
Another reboot by the router
00:49:34, 14 Feb. (721103.480000) DSL noise margin: 6.00 dB upstream, 15.00 dB downstream
00:49:33, 14 Feb. (721102.460000) DSL line rate: 1184 Kbps upstream, 13573 Kbps downstream
Another reboot by the router This has been the last reboot of the router and is still up and running with no interruptions.
Connection time: 6 days, 11:46:48
Downstream: 13.26 Mbps
Upstream: 1.156 Mbps
Now for the question? Everything I have read says that BT tries for a noise margin of 6db and this is fine on the upstream but not on the Downstream. Will this correct itself in time or does this require a reset?
Edied to say that the exchange is just down the road from my house and acording to the engineer is just under 600 Mts reading off his meter.

I would like to add that my router reset itself again yesterday. I'm not sure if this was reset by the Mods or not as I have had no contact from them as yet, I would like to add that I wasn't expecting any contact until maybe next week.
Anyway here is the results of yesterdays reset.

Noise margin down on the downstream now. so going in the right direction.
I don't think it was mods if they have not made contact more like DLM seeing line stable and starting to reduce noise margin and increase speed as part of automatic process
So, it looks like there is no particular time frame for when the DLM implements any adjustment?
Can I ask, what would be the consequences of a high noise margin besides a lower download speed? thinking out aloud here, would this include dropping of data packets etc?
normally the automatic process and many quote on the forum as stable for 3/5 days. Higher noise margin reduces your connection speed which reduces your ip profile and that reduces your download speed
normal is about 6db but on some good stable connection BT now run with a 3db noise margin. However sometimes the 3db is to low and causes high crc/hec errors especially at night significantly reducing download/throughput so these people need to go back to normal 6. for some even 6db can be a problem so some run on 9db
