Noise difference upload download

Can someone shed some light please.

The noise level on the upload is consistent at 6 – 7 dB and the noise level on the download is consistent at 7 – 13 dB.

Why is there such a difference between upload and download noise when the signal is carried on the same 2 cables?

They use different frequencies, the upload using less of the available spectrum

So why does that lead to such high download noise levels compared to the upload noise levels?

You're looking at the noise margin. It's not a level of noise, it's a buffer zone if you will. It offers that level of protection against any external source of noise such as electronic interference. In essence, the higher the better for the stability of the line.

What are your connection speeds?

I'm near the limit as far as distance goes at about 3.3km from the cabinet. Over the last year this is what I've had.
