Notice of missing DLL

Windows 7: When I start my computer up of late I get the following message." C:\PROGRA-3\AF24FC96. app   The specified module could not be found. Run DLL box." I cannot pinpoint anything that appears to have cahanged-to date. Could anyone tell me what this means please and what I should do about it?

It could be that you have recently uninstalled something and it has not been fully uninstalled or you have had some malware on your computer and it has been partly deleted by your antivirus program. You should download and run Malwarebytes free version, https://www.malwarebytes.org/ and see what it comes up with.

Thanks for that. I did run Malaware straight away and it picked up two Trojans. Never had that before. Malaware says I have nothing wrong since, did another check again this morning. Also anti virus.  Shall I just ignore the message?

I would not ignore it, it would bug the life out of me. While it is probably safe to do so, it should not be there.

You could try running ADWCleaner which is similar to Malwarebytes and should pick up anything Malwarebytes missed.

If it is still there after that try running CCleaner which is a registry cleaner and a folder cleaner etc. It may clear it.

CCleaner has a free version which you will find with an Internet search.
