Hmm, I see what you mean. I wouldn't have thought the header should have contained that information but I'm no expert. I have checked a few headers and I see the same from xxx@btinternet.com addresses but not from other sources. Perhaps somebody else will comment.
@camper wrote:what concerns me is if I send email via Outlook / Ipad / Iphone - within the header is my public IP address & "name" the specific machine I'm using . Is this regular ? I've pasted a header below of an email I sent to my Gmail account & cc to BT account from pc - outlook. Then below that header is an email sent from IPAD that contains also, my actual local /system device IP !? . Appreciate your thoughts.

@camperI suggest you post the question in a new thread in the email section of the forum as it is more appropriate there and will hopefully receive more attention.
licquorice
He already has a thread running about his email
Thanks gg, getting too old for this !!
@licquorice @gg30340 Thanks both, appreciated.
Is it worth me leaving it here or moving/re-posting ?.
Cheers.
Might be worth starting a new thread with a more appropriate title on the email board.
Thanks @licquorice . I had truoble with my settings on that former thread, I think one of the MODS had altered something to merge different but related threads , meaning everything went to the bottom of the thread and potentially didnt get noticed. Anyway that I can check settings to ensure I can post as a new thread? Cheers.
If you are using an email client on your PC/phone then your IP address will always appear in the headers. This is totally normal.
Not with Gmail using MSOutlook it doesn't.
Tell a lie, it does!
The headers always show the originating machine. For webmail this is the mail server. I you use an email client then it will be your machine.
It's a non issue really.
