What are you trying to achieve?

Is there a problem with what you have?

Before even considering a HH6 have a read through the forum about some of the problems it has.

If your current setup is working ok then I would stay as your are - it it's not broke don't fix it

Re: Older Home Hub 4 with HG612. Would upgrading to Home hub 6 be better. Help ?

Hi all

sorry for not getting back sooner

lets just say my modem only broke would bt replace it with a new HH6 or the same white modem as i am wanting a better router.  lets say i buy a asus router and replace the HH4 i have and later down the line the modem stops working what would i do there ? since bt stoped using the white modem.

thanks

If the Openreach modem broke, which doesn't happen very often, you would probably get a replacement Smarthub sent out to you.

you may get a smart hub hh6 but more likely a HH5 as a replacement for the hh4 as BT must still have plenty hh5s in stock

The modems were openreach not BT  so if modem problem BT now supply hh5 or if lucky hh6 but no longer supply modem. If you want a modem then try auction site

Re: Older Home Hub 4 with HG612. Would upgrading to Home hub 6 be better. Help ?

If you bought an Asus modem/router you wouldn't need the Openreach modem. If you bought an Asus router and the modem failed, just buy another one on Ebay. Any electronic equipment can fail at any time or work happily for year after year. Why are you crossing bridges before you get to them?

That would be your problem not BT's. They supply what is needed to get you connected not what you want so that you can connect your own equipment. As imjolly has said, if you want a replacement Openreach modem you can get one easily from ebay.

If you haven't already got the Asus router you could always buy a VDSLModem/router one.
