For the last 5 or 6 winters we have had ongoing issues with moisture affecting external phone network feeding our home. Same thing every engineer visit … trace fault, rewire junction box, dry out connections, get service back and go in their way. We know there has been neglect on tree clearance outside our boundary which has damaged cabling, but there are other “good feeds” available in the same cable and they just reconnect, get signal strength back and job done … until the next lot of heavy rain and water ingress corrodes it all again … don’t always even know its gone down as unless someone tells us they cannot get through, we are oblivious of the fault, which is far from acceptable with an elderly mother in law who needs us as her lifeline alarm contact.
Last call out to this issue was 2 weeks ago; guy got the service up and working within his tolerances and waved us goodbye … this weekend we have erratic Broadband which drops out after about 20 minutes, but seems to reset if we use the phone and generate a pulse on ringback to bridge the moisture issue. Phone line is also displaying so much static, caller can hardly be heard, although this does improve through duration of call, so suggests again that line open is drying moisture trip.
Please could someone advise how we get this sorted once and for all, as its not acceptable that we are experiencing the same ongoing issue for the last 5-6 years, with no reliable solution. We are BT phone and BB customers and paying plenty for a service which is far from adequate or reliable.
as this is an onging problem you need an engineer again but see if mods can help with engineer visit this time mods will post help here
Thanks for reply. I have logged eng visit, first available day is Wednesday. Got son here tearing hair out as has to submit collect project by end of week and cannot log into college server to get his coursework. Its staying connected a bit longer at the momet, as had a short spell of really hot weather for the last hour, so obviously fried something out, but thunder storms looming for this evening which will no doubt have it tripping out again 😞
Please post back and let us know how the engineer appointment goes on Wednesday? If you are still experiencing issue after the visit, I'd be more than happy to take a look at this for you.
