Openreach Engineer says fibre available BT says no

Go to solution

Hi -

Two new fibre cabinets have been installed on my estate (long overdue!). Speaking to an openreach engineer at the cab the other day they told me (I gave them my address) fibre is live at my cab and I should be able to phone up and order it stating if I tell them the openreach engineer has said it's live at my cab they should sort it.

Having phoned BT however, they say they can't do anything until it's listed as available on their system, it looks like other providers are putting customers onto fibre, so not sure why BT are behind and I believe there's limited places in the cab.

Anyone else had experience with this and managed to get BT to do something about it? Or has it been a case of waiting for it to appear on their system?

Tempted to write something to monitor the BT package page for my landline and email mail me when it changes as last resort.

I don't see any FTTC listed there (which is what the engineer said is live at the cab), would that just be indicated by speed?

FTTC is not available on your cab yet regardless what engineer said   you need to keep checking if there is a new cab installed

FTTPoD is something different and intended for business use and expensive

Thanks. When FTTC is available, what will the results page look like? Does it specifically say anything about FTTC, will my cab number change or will a new cab appear on the page?

the checker will show 2 lines across the top for FTTC with expected speed range and on right say available  as soonas you see available phone options team and you can order  0800800030

if you looks at this post you will see the 2 FTTC lines
