Openreach “pole”

Openreach were working in our road yesterday and have left a foot-high piece of wood at the edge of the road with a note on it saying that they are requesting council permission for a “pole”. Does anyone know what they mean?

You would have to ask Openreach, but I expect they want to install a telephone pole.

This is just a BT Retail customer forum, and has nothing to do with Openreach, who are a separate company.

Re: Openreach “pole”

Openreach are not very forthcoming. Given that there are no,telephone poles in our village they don’t stand a cat in hells chance of erecting one.

Re: Openreach “pole”

Perhaps its part of a new fibre project, especially if you are in a rural area with poor broadband speeds?

They do use poles to carry the optical fibre cable.

Thanks. We do have FTTC  but not FTTP yet. It’s a nice thought!
