Outgoing mail server

Been a BTopenworld email regular since the start.  For some reason on multiple systems, as I send an email I get the message "password required for outgoing (SMTP) server mail.btinternet.com".  My password isnt accepted (I have deleted and reloaded the account successfully with this password- so I know the password is correct).  Ive tried outlook, Gmail, Thunderbird and Touchmail.  They all load the account (receiving mail is no probmem).  Sent emails then seem to go through after 10 mins (all 5 copies I have tried in frustration).

Any suggestions or are they really all out to get me?

Re: Outgoing mail server

Are you a current BT Broadband customer or are you paying for your email account through a BT Premium email account?

Re: Outgoing mail server

Is this happening only on your home broadband or does it also happen when you use another network?

If you use a mobile phone, does it happen when you use your mobile network?

Re: Outgoing mail server

Try turning your BT hub off for about 30 minutes then restart it. Hopefully you will be given a new IP address and connect to a different mail server.
