Triple checked all POP3 and SMTP settings described here > https://www.bt.com/help/email/manage-email-account/manual-settings/what-are-the-settings-for-outgoin...
Outlook 365 MSO (16.0.13929.20360) 64-bit client can send Emails via fine using SMTP but Inbound POP collection fails ever time "Something went wrong".
Enabling Outlook logging shows "Receiving reported error (0x800CCC92) "Your email server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings. The server responded: ERR (AUTH) Access Denied".
Password has not been changed for years so why is BTinternet apparently rejecting the connection?
Thanks in advance for assistance.
Tim
Are you a BT Broadband customer or paying for your email account through a BT Premium Email account?
Have you use web mail recently? Perhaps try logging out then in to web mail, then trying Outlook
Thanks for the reply.
I am a BT Premium Email account holder.
Thanks for the reply.
Yes - Webmail works normally.
And you have tried logging out of webmail and then back in again?
Yes, I can log in and out of webmail normally but webmail is not what I want or pay for.
Just Outlook authentication fail retrieving Email.
Thanks for the tips re feedback.
I asked about webmail because sometimes logging out and in can "unjam things".
Anyway - it seems there is a problem with this release of Outlook.
See here.
Perhaps the section on starting in safe mode may be useful.
Thanks again for the tips but my problem (failed authentication) is very different to the Outlook bugs described in link.
I am going to open a support ticket and will report back later.
Regards
Tim
Okay. As a matter of interest why are using POP and not IMAP?
None of my business really - just curious.
