Overly strong signals

Can anyone tell me the optimum strength for digital channels on You View. I always thought 100% would be perfect but it's not.

Re: Overly strong signals

My youview box works qute happily on 40%, I used to have an amplifier in the downlead, but I replaced it with a passive splitter and the picture is rock steady.

An excessive signal can cause the same problems as one that is too low, because a the low end the signal falls off the "digital cliff" and at the high end this can cause instability in the box's front end amplifier.

It is best to aim for somewhere in the middle, say 40 - 98%.

As long as the picture is stable(doesn't pixelate) the actual quality of the picture is the same, be it 40% or 98%, this is the nature of digital reception.

Re: Overly strong signals

its not just the signal strength, its the signal quality as well, my freeview box has signal strength as well as signal quality meters, even if the strength is good i will not get a signal to watch unless the signal quality is good as well
