POWERLINE Adapters

Hi.

When I signed up to BT BB I got 2 Powerline adapters along with my Homehub & Vision+ Box. I've connected them up and they work fine.

What I want to know is, can I have more than 2 Powerline adapters or will it just cause interference?

If I can, what type should I get? Are they cross compatible or do I have to buy the same ones as supplied to me by BT?

I only want to know this because I want to install another PC into the house and it's going to be no-where near the Homehub. I know that Powerline adapters are somewhat faster than Wireless dongles so I'd rather go for them. However, if it's not an option then I'll have to settle for wireless.

Re: POWERLINE Adapters

Hello,

You can add more adaptors easily.

http://download.comtrend.com/PG9020%20BT%20QIG.pdf

You can mix and match between vendors, however, it is *not* recommended as Homeplugs use >=2 different and incompatible standards and it is a barrel of monkeys making them work together.

If I were you and you have the black adaptors, look to buy Comtrend 9020

If you have the white adaptors, look to buy Comtrend 902

The Homeplugs are available on shop.bt.com or on well known auction sites:

http://www.shop.bt.com/products/bt-comtrend-powerline-hd-ethernet-female-kit-4Z2J.html?q=%22Comtrend...

They may or may not be cheaper on other (cough cough fleabay) sites 😉

You can use the instructions I provided in the first link to connect 3 or more adaptors together.

Hope this helps,

Re: POWERLINE Adapters

Thanks Tommy. Just had a look on "fleabay" and they're miles cheaper. Thanks for the heads up!
