Hello I just bought bt broadband with hub6 on a copper conection I can get ip6, ipv4 ok. What I want to do is connect a ps4 pro with PPPoe connection. When I'm trying to connect to ps4 I cant get a connection on pppoe I can with a normal connection, but I want to use pppoe I have entered correct username and password but it doesn't connect.
BT our using a PPPOA instead of using pppoe the PS4 only has pppoe is there any way to connect on pppoe with bt.
I have tried connecting up a netgear xr500 gaming router from the hub also with the ps4 still not connecting is there anyone who knows how this can be done without spending millions ??
How are you actually trying to connect things together? The hub can't be used as a pure modem and will already be handling the PPPoE session.
I'm using the hub 6 to ps4 I was wondering why it cant connect on pppoe singularly through pppoe.
But you are connecting via a LAN, you don't need a PPP session, that is handled by the router to the BT BRAS on the WAN. You would only need the PS4 to handle the PPP session if you were connecting to a standalone modem rather than a modem/router.
Have you transferred from ADSL (Normal) broadband to VDSL (Fibre) broadband ?
If you have it may be possible that you are still on the ADSL broadband. In order to check can you go to hub manager then advanced then technical log and post the stats. http://bthomehub.home/ including the "modulation" which should show G993.2
But the PS4 won't be dealing with the PPP session in either case, the hub will be.
I'm on standard broadband if the option is to connect to pppoe only on ps4 why does it not connect do I need a modem or something I want to test pppoe out on ps4 for the experience.
(a) The PS 4 connected to a BT hub doesn't require a PPP session.
(b) A PS4 connected to a modem on standard broadband will need to use PPPoA
I own a netgear xr500 router can you recommend a modem to run with the PPPOE on with ps4.
