Painfully slow connection with new master socket

Hi forum

Hoping for some advice or perspective on possible issue with my broadband connection. Perhaps unrelated, but I recently had a new master socket fitted (NTE5), however the broadband speed in the house is now painfully slow.

Am using BT Home Hub 4, below are the rest results I'm receiving, however I'm curious as to whether 0.25Mbps really is likely to be the maximum achievable speed, as this renders several services almost unusable.

Grateful if anyone feels there is more that could be done.

Thanks,

Kevin

Re: Painfully slow connection with new master socket

your noise margin is high because of a number of disconnections this will reduce your connection speed also your connection time is low is this due to the hub dropping connection or a manual restart

Re: Painfully slow connection with new master socket

Thanks for your quick response, much appreciated. Further results below - suggesting that faster should be possible?

The connection time from 12 was due to a manual reset, the only time it was reset (WAN logs also noted below).

Re: Painfully slow connection with new master socket

The connection was the same low speed prior to the reset - and had been up for several days prior.

Re: Painfully slow connection with new master socket

are you current still in test socket with a new filter?  do you use a phone extension cable to reach the test socket?

I think all the attempts to improve your connection and/or router dropping connection have left you in banded profile.  this should release automatically give 3+ days stable connection with no resets.  if you get 3+ days and no change then repost the last 2 line of adslstats from hub and mods will help get you out banding  http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/broadband_terminology.shtml

Re: Painfully slow connection with new master socket

That may well be the case - the bandwidth is showing as 440/284 and the latency is interleaved (as a possible error correction).

I'm still in the test socket (no extension used to reach) and have added a new filter (I suspect the reset at 12 happened due to moving sockets).

I'll leave for 3-4 days and see if any improvement. For ADSL stats, simply the upload/ download from the hub manager?

Thanks again...

Re: Painfully slow connection with new master socket

as you have a HH4 the stats will be the 2 lines you previously posted as there are no adsl stats like previous hubs  if there are no drops/resets then it should be the same 2 lines as previously
