Hello. Firstly, let me just advise I'm not knowledgeable at all regarding the this subject. I just expected to plug the cable in and go!
Since Infinity was installed (a few weeks ago) I've not been able to just click on the Chrome icon and load the internet once the pc has booted.
I have to restart the pc before it works. Sometimes twice.
Automatic updates to Kaspersky work fine on the first boot as does connection to Xbox Live but on the first boot of the pc any internet pages just display timed-out errors.
Weirdly it did start to work on the first boot, for two days, once I'd assigned the xbox and the pc to always use the same i.p address in the hub thingy. I did this to open the NAT for the xbox and that hasn't worked either.
I haven't switched the hub and modem off for around a week now.
I have rang BT for help but to be frank I'd have been better off asking my dog.
The lights on the hub are always blue and the lan, DSL and power lights on the white box are always solid green.
I'd be really appreciative if someone could help a complete novice.
have you checked the drivers for your network card are up to date - using manufacturer's website and not windows?
Sorry, forgot to put which.
I'm using wired.
First Kaspersky has been known to cause problems with connecting to the internet.
Disable Kaspersky and see if that makes a difference. Also do you have DHCP enabled on your network settings?
Disabled Kaspersky and it hasn't made a difference.
Isn'tDHCP enabled automatically in Windows 7?
I'm using Win7 by the way.
