Phone line not working

I moved into a new house on Friday 14 August and the phone line was dead and hence no broadband either. I reported the fault on 14 August. I've been assured for the last 5 days that the engineers are working on it but the indian call centre just tells me the same story every day. Having no broadband is affecting my job now as I am unable to log on. Why can I not get a straight answer? Why can't I speak to an actual engineer to see what is going on? Does anyone know how I can resolve this issue? 5 days of no phone line and no satisfactory update/explanation is unacceptable.

it is Openreach that deal with all connections and faults and Openreach do not deal with the public only service providers
BT only get updates they can can give you
