Morning all,
Unfortunately recently my internet hasn't been it's usually reliable self. (Even before covid19).
I've had the fault in my area messages, along with being updated that faults have been repaired etc but I'm still struggling with random spikes and connection drops. My speed in January was 76mbps and ran smoothly as, never a problem in the 4 years! From Feb onwards it now gets 64mbps at best!
I've tried 2 smart hubs and switched of smart set up and have gone back to the previously perfect homehub6 and still encounter issues. Playing online I can see bursts of ping up to 200/300ms and other times downloads just completely stop along with netflix streaming.
Is there anything some can do on here to reset the line or anything? I've lost count the amount of times I've made calls and being fobbed. My hub at 2am this morning was only getting 15mbps to the hub on a BT Test.
Thanks
Is there any noise on your phone calls? Dial 17070 and select option 2, there should be no noise between the announcements.
There is probably still noise on the line causing errors, which will result in re-transmissions and latency.
As you have posted about broadband problems in the past, you need to connect to the test socket, just to make sure the noise is not being caused by your internal wiring.
Yes sir. There is only one socket in the house. I have tried the phone by itself and router without telephone and doesn't sound different/affect ping.
What does your master phone socket look like?

My master socket is number 6.
Then you need to eliminate that as a possible cause of your problem.
Use test socket which is located behind the filtered faceplate. On the picture below, its shown as the "real" test socket.
Connect things up as shown below.
Removed plate and connected micro filter. Line was slightly different but dont know if I was imagining it. But ping spikes still there.
Those ping results are nothing excessive.
You could check for noise again.
