Ping increase/interleaved & ADSL2 enquiry

Hello,

I made a post on here about 2 months ago regarding my latency and how it had increased permanently.

Here is a link to the post

Basically my ping still hasn't been restored back to normal and I would seriously like to get to the bottom of it now. From what I could make out from various conversations and from the previous replies on here, it could be the result of my connection dropping and interleaving enabling automatically which may explain the latency increase. I am fully aware of the stability issues involving fast interleaving and so on, but I'm not concerned and my connection uptime appears to be quite stable for it. As for line errors, there were apparently a couple on the line which have now been resolved by my exchange.

So I really am stumped as to how I'm not getting the same ping results I once had at the beginning and would appreciate the help finding a solution.

Further to this I was reading the following post and was wondering if the same could be done for me (ADSL2), I'm not actually sure if I've been upgraded to this but it's shown as "available" here:

Thanks in advance,

Robert

Re: Ping increase/interleaved & ADSL2 enquiry

Can you go to hub manager then troubleshooting then helpdesk and post the stats. Moving to adsl2 with a long line like yours may cause problems as adsl2 is far more aggressive on any line noise than your existing adslmax

Re: Ping increase/interleaved & ADSL2 enquiry

Your connection time is only 7 hrs is that due to manual reset or router dropping connection?  Your conenction speed is currently beter that you had previously and any change to adsl2 may not improve that but it would increase your upstraem speed. It may however make your line less stable

Re: Ping increase/interleaved & ADSL2 enquiry

I just noticed that it dropped today for some reason, I was at work so it definitely wasn't manual. My connection speed itself has always been similar but the ping has increased and was the main selling point for me, I was really impressed with 25-30ms to gaming servers locally and so on. I also noticed it's still interleaved which could be due to the connection dropping earlier this afternoon. As for ADSL2, I'm certainly prepared to take that risk just as I witnessed fast interleave or disabled(with sky) to be perfectly fine on my connection. Anything to bring the ping down again. I still don't know why it increased.

Re: Ping increase/interleaved & ADSL2 enquiry

If it was the router dropping connection have you tried the quiet line test ti see if there is any line noise?  It may be better to stay on adslmax and if line stays stable for 3+ days then get mods to change latency back to fast

Re: Ping increase/interleaved & ADSL2 enquiry

I just did a quiet line test there and it sounds normal. I will monitor the line for a few days then report back.

Thanks

Re: Ping increase/interleaved & ADSL2 enquiry

You can always get the 3+ days stabke and then get latency changed to fast and see how it goes - and then decide about adsl2

I've been browsing around

and from what I can tell this seems to be a problem with the router and may be the reason why my ping has increased due to interleaving and my profile being reset. This has gone unnoticed until now.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Robert

Your link is fibre and hh5 not the hh4 and adsl which you are using
