Ping spiking and intermittent slowness

Wired connection and have recently scanned for viruses and spyware using MSC and AVG. CCleaner for registry issues and on start-up programs. Nothing about the hardware has been moved or changed since the engineer installed it. Power cycling the equipment sometimes helps for an hour or two, but it's a coin toss at best.

For the past month or so I've been lagging on pretty much every online game I play, including Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, League of Legends and DotA 2. I ran a ping tool earlire while playing on a hosted server and got these results:

Looks like interleaving could be on.  Has it always been like this?

If not get an engineer out to get your circuit reset.

Re: Ping spiking and intermittent slowness

I think your another person whos affected by this unknown issue, most of us think its severe congestion because of all the kids having new equipment for christmas, which is now putting strain/stress on BT's already over subscribed network.

If that was the case, then every BT customer would be affected and not a very small percentage.

500ms first hop, which is the router. Do you have a spare router? Can you run WinMTR on a different machine (wired) and compare the results?

Re: Ping spiking and intermittent slowness

I've been having exactly the same spiking lag issue when playing LoL, aswell as the connection randomly dropping out completely.

Have you contacted BT and got their verdict yet? Or even managed to sort it yourself?

I shall be making contact this weekend as the service has been terrible for the past month, i'd go so far as to say talktalk broadband was a more stable connection!
