Poor BT SERVICE

Hi
I moved after 9 years to BT In May from Orange. I had no issues in 9 years with the same equipment and cabling my new BT service is a nightmare with intermittent connections and speed .
The main problem is the service after numerous calls an engineer attended. He did something with the bell wire and suggested moving the point where the ADSL was. This seemed a really good idea but he went off the idea when the existing point was a bit hard to reach. We agreed to leave it, see if the change he made fixed it and "just get them back" and they'd do it. Easier said than done, hours later onto the helpdesk , often 30 mins just to get through and much resistance later after they say that the line appears okay I'm struggling to get them back.
My argument is it worked fine until I went to BT, I'm now contracted for 18 months but if they don't show some effort to help me can I cancel my contract and just go back to Orange ??

Re: Poor BT SERVICE

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods

you need to post some information about your connection so in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results .

you may need mod help but they will need this information as well

are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
