Re: Poor broadband speed

Your maximum estimated speed would be 5152Kbs, however you appear to have been connected for only 35 seconds?

You must leave your home hub turned on and connected to your phone line for at least five days.

During that time, do not reset or disconnect it.

If your download speed has not increased after that time, then return to this thread for assistance.

Thank you

I have been with BT for 2+ years and i took this reading after checking the speed in the test socket, what is going to be different about the next 5 days compared to the last 2+ years? Have you set something up to potentially fix in the next 5 days?

Re: Poor broadband speed

Your downstream noise margin is high, which indicates that there is spare capacity to carry more data. The exchange however has reduced that capacity because it thinks there is instability on the line due to disconnections.

Leaving it connected for about five days should tell it that the line is now stable, and capable of carrying more data.

The downstream noise margin will then reduce to between 3 and 6db, and your speed will increase.

If that does not happen, and you can show that the line has been connected for five days, then it can be escalated to the BT Care Team.

This is a customer to customer self help forum the only BT presence here are the forum moderators

As Keith has posted your line has been seen as unstable and the five days gives the line chance to stabilise again  and your speed to improve
