Port Forwarding Help Needed

Hi

I'm trying to set up a VPN so I can connect to my works server from home.  I've got BT Infinity Home Hub 5 which isn't letting me do this.  I'm using the port forwarding instructions to see if this fixes it.

Please can any one advise on the following:

I've looked through the list of applications already on there and presume I will need to create a new one?

If yes, what do I select for the following fields:

Protocol

Port Range

Translate

(NB: I did try the number 22 for each of the above fileds and created a new application but when I then tried to input an IP address I got the message "The host does not belong to any recognised LAN."  The IP address that I'd inputted was for my works laptop)

What IP address do I need to input.

Any help that can help me resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Jackie

Re: Port Forwarding Help Needed

First of all you need to know what protocol and ports your VPN uses and then forward the relevant ports to the IP address of your laptop when connected to the HH. This will be an address in the range 192.168.1.xxx, not the address it uses when connected directly to your work LAN. You will also need to subscribe to a dynamic dns service as your public IP address is not fixed.
