Porting number delays from FTTC to FTTP

Hi,

My BT full fibre went live on 26/02/2021, but my land line on twisted pair has not yet been ported over so my BT account is not Live and I am still paying my previous provider Talk Talk. Every day I get a call from BT saying it will be completed in the next 24 hours but I am beginning to wonder if this will ever happen.

Has anyone experienced a simular issue and how can it take nearly 2 weeks to fail to port my number over? Surely it cannot be that difficult.

I am in this no man's land where I am still paying Talk Talk but am using BT full fibre broadband which BT tell me I am getting free.

Is this really happening or am I dreaming? Please tell me there's someone else out there who is experiencing the same crazy world.

P.S. I have told the full fibre team that I would be happy to get a new number.

P.P.S. This number was originally a BT number before I moved to Talk Talk about 6 years ago.

I have read another similar post where problems getting phone to work and they were getting free broadband and was ongoing for weeks

Just cancel your Talk Talk service, and the number will then return back to BT Retail.

Yes I will speak to my BT contact on call back today because that seems like the most sensible thing to do. But up to this point I have been advised not to do that by both BT and Talk Talk. (Not a big surprise that Talk Talk would say that)

Well if the number belongs to BT Retail, then it cannot be ported until the line is released by TT. It then returns to BT as a spare line.

You may have to accept a new number from BT to start with, but once it is working, you can request a renumber back to your original number, if that is what you want.

Personally, think the issue is that BT do not seem to have any automatic processes in place to migrate numbers over to Digital Voice, so it probably has to be done manually. This is possibly due to the fact that Digital Voice is a new product, and they are probably overwhelmed with requests.

Thank you, that's exactly what I was thinking to be honest. And yes, it does appear that BT are overwhelmed by requests to port numbers to their new digital VOIP service. (They have said I'm not the only one in this situation but I don't know how widespread it is).

Hopefully I can get TT cancelled today and make progress with this. I'm actually not bothered if BT offer a new number in the long or short term, just don't want to continue paying TT for a service I'm not using.

UPDATE - still waiting to get my Digital Voice activated after 4 weeks of waiting.

Please BT, invest in more technical staff as these sort of lead time to resolve technical issues is not good for customer's patience.
