Many years ago (about 20 I think) Royal Mail changed our postcode. Over the years I have phoned and emailed BT many times and have always been dealt with by a very helpful person who promises to sort this out.
Now the postcode on my bills has been updated, however whenever I try to do something online (change calling plan, order infinity etc) it never recognises my postcode and I have to remember and put in the 20 year old out of date one and then it works. This means that homehubs etc always get sent to the old postcode. Recently I had a problem trying to add BT Sport to my sky box as the postcodes did not match.
Last time I phoned I was told that it was impossible to update the old incorrect one in the BT database to the new ( by 20 years one) short of discontinuing the phone service and restarting it
