My elderly mother has ocasionally damaged her telephone cable and socket, by pulling too hard on the cable. I was wondering if anyone has a solution for preventing this?
My laptop computer has a magnet in its power-cord plug that keeps the plug connected to the laptop. If I walk away with the laptop without disconnecting the cable, the plug simply falls out of the socket when the magnetic force is overcome, which prevents any damage to the cable or computer. This seems like a perfect solution.
I see that there is at least one old (1962-ish) patent for exactly this purpose.
Does anyone know of a product?
An alternative solution would be to install a tamper-proof phone (like we see in public phones) but they don't really look like drawing-room objects!
Or a longer, coiled cord?
