Well that has convinced me to leave. £2 extra for TV Max and £4 extra for HD Max. BT really think they can get away with a £2 extra increase just for HD (when we are already paying a premium).
This increase was supposed to be about the cost of Premiership Football - that should not equate to any over the odds increase specifically for HD viewers.
Just confirms BT are price gouging - I am off.
Just to confirm I've contacted BT and they're recontracting my Max HD package at my existing price (i.e. keep my discount) for 18 months. They've also recontracted my Broadband with the same discounts to align with the TV package. The only price increase I'll now suffer is the CPI change due in March 2020.
I'll need to wait for my bill to make sure that this is what has happened!
only price rise you will face .. until BT raises prices again on the internet .. must only be a few weeks off ..
i thought we lived in a world of low inflation .. not in BTs world
ChrisB, Hope you are luckier than me, I did exactly the same but after the initial email to confirm the re-contracting I received a second asking me to return my complete wifi I had just took out (at a discount). Still waiting for them to get back to confirm they have sorted this out?:-(
I recontracted and my Bill came 2 days later - with NO discount preserved for TV MAX - its taken 2 goes on that abyssmal Chatline this week to sort it .... oh frabjous day !
Amazingly, unsolicted they offered me financial recompense on top of refunding the missing discount ! Small beer for spending over 40 mins in total on the Chatline **bleep** ...
[since when is the word 'nonsense' bleepable - FFS ! ]
Well - after recontracting on at the same fixed price on 17 June - which would mean no £4pm increase on 28 July - BT increased my price anyway by £4pm as of 28 July.
But then I suspected they would as they always screw up changes to me bills.
Hi @ozsat,
Welcome back to the Community.
Sorry that we have messed up your bill after re-contracting to keep the same price. Have you got this sorted or would you like one of the Mods to look into this for you?
I've sent you a Private Message with details on how you can get in contact with the mod team.
Thanks
Matt
BT must have the most confusing bills in the UK
i love the fact they give you a combined prices and then break it apart for prices rises ..

BT and most other companies bill in advance, so when there is a price change you're refunded what you were previously billed, then billed at the new rate, most companies just add in the difference, same result but I do agree that BT's bills can look confusing.
