Problem connecting laptop to a BT home hub 4/wi fi

Hi there,

I am trying to connect my Asus K55A laptop (Windows 10) to a new BT Home Hub 4 wi fi and my laptop simply cannot see it. The laptop has always performed well and easily finds all available wi fi networks so I'm baffled by this. The Hub 4 has a steady blue light on it which apparently denotes that wi fi is working and all is fine. Help please 😞 ....

Thank you imjolly, not a great techie me so I didnt even know about these two options. Will try them shortly to see if they help and will post an update.

Both options require that I execute them via a device that is already connected to our BT hub. Sadly I cannot do that as the hub was set up by a friend and he connected his mobile phone to it initially. He's now gone away for two weeks and his mobile phone is the only device that is already connected to the hub. It looks like I'll need to wait for his return to be able to access the hub... Just connect your laptop with the Ethernet cable that came with the hub.

Thank you licquorice, I've found the cable and connected my laptop to the Hub/internet so that's super. However the issue of not being able to connect my laptop wirelessely to the web remains. I have tried both options that imjolly kindly suggested in the post no 2 on this thread but neither of them have made a difference. If anoyone has another idea of what I could try please write - many thanks 🙂

Reset the home hub to factory default just in case the wireless password has been changed.

You can then connect using the wireless pasword on the card.

Just to clarify, it is the wireless passkey that you use and not the Admin password.

Thank you Keith and gg30340, will try reseting the hub tomorrow morning and see if I have any luck, will keep you posted.

you should connect automatically with an ethernet cable you can then access the hub and turn off smart set up
