I am having trouble setting up/accessing email for my in-laws who are have only just had broadband installed and never had email before.
I have set up a BT ID for them using a new BT email address (not gifted) and need to get into this email to click on the link to verify, however, every time I try to log into email with the email address and password I have used to set up their BT ID all I keep getting is this message, so I am just going round and round in circle.
How do I log on to the email address? Any link I go to through the My BT app doesn't seem to provide an answer that resolves the issue so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you follow the instructions in the following link when you set up their BTID?
Don't give the email address but where did you get the email address from ie. how did you get it set it up?

See link about setting up email addresses after you have access to the MyBT.
Thank you.
I followed those links and also spoke with someone at BT. When following the link 'What is a BT ID and how do I get one' it straight away asks for an email address, so I asked BT and was given the impression I needed to put in the BT account number here but it wouldn't accept that as it is not an email format, so put in the email address I wanted to use, which it allowed me to do and linked the account to it.
I did think this was a bit odd as how do you know it is not someone else's so I tried using one I knew existed to confirm it tells you this. The email I wanted to use for my in-laws was not one that appeared to be being used (it gave no on screen warning to tell you it was already in use). It has sent a validation email to this address but I can't log into the email at all.
Now wondering if I have done things wrong!
Is the email address that you used one used by you on a regular basis and is it a BT email address?
You need a valid email address that works to set up the BTID and once you have that set up you then access the broadband account using the BTID and MyBT for the account.
Once in the MyBT of the broadband account you can then set up email addresses and if you want you then change the BTID to one of those.
Excellent. Thanks for your help and advice. Used my own valid email address to get in and set it up for them.
