I have BT infinity using a home hub 3. I have had this for quite a few years with almost no problems but last friday I started getting problems accessing certain websites, particularly the bbc website. This has continued on and off for a week. I checked if anything was down in my area and last week and yesterday it said there were broadband issues in my area but this should now be resolved, today it is saying there is nothing wrong in my area.
The problem with BBC is particularly the BBC sport website, all the writing is fine but no pictures or video content is displayed. The BBC news area everything displays OK but the video hangs when played. Oddly everything works fine on my phone through the bbc sport & news apps over wifi from the same router.
Most other websites work with no problems but I have found some other website which are very slow or do not show.
I tuned off my router for 5 minutes this morning as suggested and have done a line check which returns OK.
Is there anything else I should try or should I report this to BT?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Youcould try changing DNS settings on your PC/Laptop and see if that improves it. Try Google DNS
There does seem to be an epidemic of DNS problems at the moment.
Wonder if these problems are related to locality.
Fortunately here in Ribble Valley, we are not (yet) affected.
Will wait until Tour of Britain comes through next week.
Seem to remember problems when the 2012 Olympics were held (a national problem of course).
Wow, thanks guys, that has worked, changing my dns to 22.214.171.124/126.96.36.199.
That has been really frustrating me so thanks again.
Another one with DNS problems that BT has not solved. The customer has had to do it themselves and used a work around.
