Problems with internet speed

I live out in the middle of no where so I accept my poor internet connection, but recently like a 3 months ago my internet speed has got poorer. Before, when I was downloading things on my laptop it would download at around 75 kbs but now It downloads at 20 kbs and this is a big differnce in terms of speeds I get as it has now made playing xbox live impossible where before it was possible to play online. My mother called up and they suggested a new hub, BT Home Hub 3, but this has not made any diffence.

Re: Problems with internet speed

Hey Cameron, you need to post the connection time and sync rate Down/Up.

Based on that attenuation figure you should get a 3Mbs downstream connection if it was perfect line. I can see there's quite a few errors on the line but we need to the system up time to see how regular they actually are.

Re: Problems with internet speed

Yup. That upstream is speed is very low, most lines can maintain 448Kbs. Anyway, connection time of 45 minutes, did you manually restart the router or you haven't touched it? If it's the former then your router is having trouble maintaining a connection. An unstable line means that you're stuck with a trickle.

There's a lot of troubleshooting we need to cover. First of all, can you connect to the test socket? Next, how many phone points do you have in the house?

Re: Problems with internet speed

My broadband always goes down so I restarted it so I could check this, it's a new router as well. Once I connect to the test socket do I post my ASDL stats again? And I will count my phone points.
