Hi community
Really quick question regarding my public ip address and *public* default gateway.
They are completely different, is this normal on a FTTC connection?
Example:
Public ip: 17.168.192.47
Default gateway: 62.211.18.3
Thanks in advance

What do you mean by *public* default gateway?
Public IP is provided by your ISP. The default gateway is you hub/router address.
Hi, thanks for the reply.
If you log in to your router. I have the smart hub 2.
Click advanced, broadband, then under the Internet section right at the bottom.
It has tcp/ip information.
It has my public ip address : 5.80.***.***
Default gateway: 172.16.***.***
I thought default gateway would be : 192.168.1.254
Thanks
192.168.1.254 is the default gateway for your devices I.e the hub. The 172.16 address is the default gateway for your router and is the address of the BT BRAS.
Thanks for your help 👍
