QLT

Should the Quiet line test be absolutely silent. I've just had my line 'fixed' and (presume the BT engineer did check it) but I can still hear something (pretty quiet as before fix) in the background. Engineer nvr came to property but said he remade the connection (at the cabinet) Whats the chance there was more than one fault and he's just found somthing he can fix ticked his job as done and looked no futher?

Re: QLT

Yes, there will be a slight hum on the line...

Some people on this site seem to think it should be completely silent but take it from someone who's online name is 'Lines_Man' that there will be a slight noise on there...

Th only time it should be completely silent is if you disconnect the line from the Exchange Battery/Earth....

Re: QLT

Ok thanks.... its hard to know at what point line noise goes from normal to a line noise problem. Subjectively its a quiet hum which periodically blips louder. (QLT conducted on master test on handset via filter) If that is what normal should be then fine.....
