Question: Canary Wharf deployment

Hello

I am thinking to moving to Canary Wharf / Isle of Dog, and am trying to figure out what I should expect in term of broadband. In particular with the announcement below:

http://www.wharf.co.uk/2013/10/double-boost-for-canary-wharf.html

There seems to be often a confusion between the exchange being upgraded and BT infinity being actually available to customers. Am I right to understand that the article refers to Spring 2014 for the exchange, not for people in large appartment blocks in Canary Wharf / Isle of Dog to actually be able to order BT infinity?

Also I read (link below) that in most flats in Canary Wharf are not connected to a cabinet but directly to the exchange, and therefore most users will not be able to use FTTC but have to go FTTP, which may take a lot longer to deploy.

http://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home/products/super-fastfibreaccess/fibretothepremises/fttp/download...

Does that mean that I should not reasonably expect to get BT infinity in Spring 2014?

thanks

Charles

Re: Question: Canary Wharf deployment

Hi cm2187,

The Openreach Superfast Fibre Broadband Scheme is being rolled out, done and managed by Openreach for ALL ISPs/CPs so BT Retail (a communication provider/ISP whom operates this forum) does not have much say as to when and if you will be able to get fibre broadband (FTTC or FTTP or equivalent) as that is up-to Openreach.

The POPLAR exchange is fibre ready for both FTTC and FTTP in certain areas within the POPLAR exchange area.

You will probably be best to ask NGA Openreach if you are within a NGA area and whether there is an estimated timescale (if there is an estimated date available) that the property you are wanting to move to will be covered under the NGA broadband rollout in the area.

You can try emailing NGA Openreach via nga.enquiries@openreach.co.uk with your landline number, address and [pcp(cabinet) number, if your not on a EO line] to see if they have any more information regarding upgrading your cabinet. It may take a week or so to get a reply.

Unfortunately BT Retail (a communication provider/ISP who operates this forum) does not have much say as to when and if you will be able to get FTTC or FTTP/H based broadband such as BT Infinity.

You can register your interest for Fibre Broadband such as BT Infinity by going to http://superfast-openreach.co.uk/expression-gen.aspx

You can keep checking the BT Wholesale Database and BT Infinity website for the most upto date information as these are updated regularly.

The Superfast Openreach When and Where website is: http://superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/

Hope that helps,

Cheers

**The Fibre-Optic Broadband Rollout is being managed and done by Openreach for all communication providers/ISPs. BT Retail (a communication provider/ISP) has nothing to do with the rollout of fibre broadband.**

Re: Question: Canary Wharf deployment

If you know the address you will be moving into you can try the address checker HERE to see what's available.
