Range check

Apologies if this is a daft question - but how can you check whether you're on Range A or B as shown on BT's DSL checker? Would the ip profile be the definitive descriptor for this? My estimates are that I should receive 79.9 download, but my ip profile is 65. Is there something wrong on my line?

The way to tell is to look at your IP Profile and see which range it falls into, A or B.

What if your speed doesn't fall into these two ranges? Mine doesn't.

An answer I'm keen to hear too!

My estimate on bt website is lower than the DSL checker which is 22Mb lower than my actual and ip profile speeds.

I've had a look at my profile (65) and it falls outside the ranges quoted for me.  Do I need to contact the helpdesks or get BT to look at my line?

The dslchecker is an estimate of what your line might be able to achieve if everything was perfect. That means, as all estimates do, that some may get more and some may get less. It is not a promise of the speed you will get.

 

If you are getting 65Mbps I doubt that BT or Openreach would do anything to try and improve that but you could always ask.

The download ranges quoted are:

Range A: 80 - 79.9
Range B: 80 - 70
