Re: All sorts of problems with BT Broadband

Hi, I too am having lots of problems and wondered whether someone could help?

We moved into our house recently. Its 15 years old and has had a BT line previously, however we still needed a new one installing apparently.

Engineer came to do this saturday just gone but couldn't complete as some problems with exchange and the line not getting a dial tone etc.

Someone came out Monday to try and fix this, said further problems.

Someone came out Tuesday and finally said fixed. Got emails from BT saying line and broadband sorted.

Came home - broadband very slow. Plugged into the main socket, several calls to BT, checked speed online, the stats are below.

Despite it saying 7meg it is still very slow. Taking ages to download anything, simple pages on the internet take ages to load etc.

Also did a test on speedtest.net and got quite different results. Have posted both results below.

Getting very annoyed now as seems no1 can work out what the problem is, get transferred to BT tech help in india every night spending hours on end just for them to say they don't know what the problem is.

No idea what to do next. Advice much appreciated.

Re: All sorts of problems with BT Broadband

Hi the problem is your IP Profile is at rock bottom caused by disconnections you need to maintain a stable connection 24/7 for the next 3/5 days with no hub restarts and your profile should then rise automatically

Re: All sorts of problems with BT Broadband

if you post back your hub stats and a full BT speed test after 3+ days if your IP Profile has not risen we can give you a link to the forum mods and they can do a manual reset but you must have 3days + stable connection first

Re: All sorts of problems with BT Broadband

Hi there,

Following my post from a few days ago, my stats are as below. It might be worth mentioning people on the same street are showing as getting 6.3meg. It also says we should be getting that but are currently getting 0.1! We have gone through all the standard tech help over the phone and nothing has worked. They have said to wait 10 days stabilisation period which ends on Tuesday. We were promised a minimum of 1meg and as I said its showing as capable of nearly 7 meg, yet we are getting only 0.1 It took 3 engineers to get the phone line sorted due to issues, apparently some fault on the line meant they couldn't get a dial tone etc. That seems fine now and phone works ok, but broadband problems continue.

Any help or advice much appreciated. Will be calling BT on tuesday and would like some advice as to what the problem might be before I speak to them. My thoughts are that an engineer might be required?

Many thanks in advance,

Hannah

Re: All sorts of problems with BT Broadband

as has been already said your problem is a low profile of 0.14mb due to the prolem yo had causing drops in connection and numerous resets.  you need to stay connected 24/7 for 3/5 days and your profile will rise automatically - no resets.  once profile recovers come back and post new stats as your noise marin is higher than normal and someone will be able to help you get a better connection speed.  but profile ans stable connection first

Re: All sorts of problems with BT Broadband

an engineer is NOT needed and also please do not phone the help line as the first thing they will get you to do is restart your hub which will start the 3days + time again please just be patient and it will rise automatically

Re: All sorts of problems with BT Broadband

Hi again,

Having now waited a total of 15 days since the line went active, these are the stats.  We did briefly get up to 5mb but it has dropped again. The router has not been touched, turned off or played with at all for over a week now. This is still not achieving the max it is capable of, any ideas?

Many thanks in advance

Re: All sorts of problems with BT Broadband

PS. not sure why it says connection time is only 3 days something when the router hasn't been touched for over a week 😕
