Re: BT Infinity constant daily Internet drop outs - Smart hub 6

I got my  new HH6 with Infinity 1 on 9th Nov. I have had various speed variations until tonight when it dropped to 7Mbps download and the BT speedtest failed and asked to retest and failed again.  The MyBT android app also failed due to echnical problems (it said).  Following the BT link to chat to an assistant resulted eventually in phone call from a BT assistant (Batu) who eventualy said there wasn't a fault but I was within the 10 day period when the exchange configures the line for the guaranteed speed of 50Mbps and that was why the speed test didn't work (it had before the last couple of days).

I didn't know that that applied to FTTC connections, but I shall leave it until the 20th to have another go.

I have also had numerous occasions when my browser lost DNS and couldn't resolve URLs, but I didn't persue that issue .

My point is: maybe your broadband is being affected like mine with this stabalisation period.  and If you want to avoid any possibility of phone charges (even though 0800 calls are free for most) then use chat to get them to phone you.

Re: BT Infinity constant daily Internet drop outs - Smart hub 6

suspect the story about 10 days stabilization as its gone 10 days and still only 12mbs download at times. got 51mbs this morning. Not impressed with the HH6, WiFi connection seems very slow and browser is constantly losing DNS setting.

@vicsetter

I have moved your post to a new thread.

Is there any noise on your phone calls? Dial 17070 and select option 2, there should be no noise between the announcements.

Please post the information from the smart hub, using this link.

Could you please post the results from the BT Wholesale speed checker, including the further diagnostics.

BTW Wholesale checker gave 40.99Mb download and 8.75Mb upload and said: For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 27.5 Mbps-53.18 Mbps

Interestingly an email from BT confirming my order says: The minimum guaranteed speed you can expect from your BT Infinity will be 50Mb

Was the BTWholesale check performed on a wired connection?

Re: BT Infinity constant daily Internet drop outs - Smart hub 6

Quiet line test is 'Quiet'.  Just had my postbox email say it cannot send to my ISP SMTP server, change Wifi to 5Ghz and it connects, I presume this is the DNS fault I experience with my browser.
