Re: DO you get ‘account errors’ ‘server not responding’ and ‘renter details’?

I have just contacted cutomer support and guess what the answer was ?

" BT email is not designed to and should not work abroad. "

Priceless customer support.  Complaint raised.

I stood my ground and said how ridiculous, then complaint raised that essentially states

"BT email not working / not connecting to server from other mobile networks from abroad"

Hi.

Can you provide more information regarding your particular issue - or was the last sentence your fault?

DId you ask them about using the service abroad, or was that some strange answer they gave?

The service does work overseas (e.g when on holiday or away for work), but plenty of people over the years have had issues from various countries with no access, no access via apps/clients etc. There is no hard and fast rule with this, and it's not clear which end is causing the issue.

What is true, is that you are not allowed to have a BTinternet email service if you are permanently abroad.

Re: DO you get ‘account errors’ ‘server not responding’ and ‘renter details’?

BT would not / could not put me in touch with Email experts to assist.

NO the last sentance wasn't my fault.

BTs servers for some reason do not allow me (and others it would seem) to access our email accounts, when we try to use our mobile phones (iPhones) on foreign cellular networks.

I assume you're abroad, maybe on holiday/work?

As I said, it's not clear which end is causing the blocking. Can you say why you've assumed it's BT's servers?

Have you tried more than one network provider abroad? There have certainly been cases in the past of blocking by some foreign network providers.

It might help if you can say which country you are in, which carrier you are using both in the UK and who's carrier you are using when abroad and if your email works as it should when using a wireless connection.
