Re: Deleting email addresses from allowance

Go to solution

I also have a problem with deleting email address also. I had 3 and have deleted one and system still says I have used 3 instead of 2. if I send email to deleted address I don't get failure message so it seems to be still active although I have no access to it. i have spoken to bt help desk, raised complaint via email  and have been passed to specialist email team on a couple of occasions and they say once you have created an email address it will remain and cannot be removed.

Not so.  Help

I am new to forum so not sure of protocol I originally put this message as a reply but thought I might need new one, so here it is again.

I also have a problem with deleting email address also. Others have had emails removed so hope mine can be resolved too.  Thanks!

Hi, welcome to the forums.

When a sub account is deleted, it goes into a limbo status for about 110 days I believe. During this time, emails to it don't bounce but get binned, access is not allowed. After this time (unless things have changed), it gets re-added to the available pool. This doesn't apply to primary email addresses.

What you were told by the "specialist" email team is total cobblers. It does NOT remain at all.

To support, please can this information by the mail team be checked and addressed.

Re: Deleting email addresses from allowance

Hey @Andy_N,

Support should not be saying that at all. I've confirmed this a few times over the Community Forums. We'll investigate who has said this once we get @gobeithio's details through the web form.

To clarify, after you delete an email, wait the 60 days, the email should be gone. It should then allow you to create a new email address or else your allowance should have updated. Any issues where it hasn't please let us know.

Thanks

problems deleting email from allowance

Go to solution

sorry not responded sooner been away on holiday for a few days. I had 3 emails shown on the 'My BT' account. I had deleted one which was still showing on my email allocation. I wanted this deactivated email removed. Instead of removing the deactivated email from My BT they have removed all 3, I can log onto one of the emails which I set up for my wife even though it does not appear on My BT but my own email address will not allow me to log in. I can access it via my ipad which was set to automatically log into it. I need these emails restored to My BT, they are still there and accessible so hopefully this can be done!

All emails deleted from My BT manage email, legend says you have used ) of your 11 email addresses. there should be 2 active email addresses. Online chat yesterday unable to help and said they would need to escalate. A call was booked for today,  I received call had to explain over again what problem was. I was told it would have to be checked and they would call back tomorrow.
