you should always have a conenction at the test socket as that is your main connection to BT line.  are there any wires attached to the front of the master faceplate feeding extension sockets?

this is master socket test socket.jpg  are there any wires attached to the detachable front plate which are probably feeding extensions

as you have 1 other extenion socket do you know where tyhat get's connection if not from the master socket - master being first socket in your home where bt wires enter from outside
